Finally! I'm at the Great Bear Lake! Resa could hardly believe her eyes as her paws walked through the lakeshore, with plenty of other bears around her. At first, they seemed intimidating, so much bigger than her. But then she realized that this was a time of peace, and that no one would hurt her. As she gazed into the crowd of bears, she could see the polar bears making their way up to the northern part of the lake, where it would be cooler. The grizzly bears were walking down to the hills and valleys, and the black bears were padding to the forest. That's where I need to go. Resa began to follow the crowd of black bears, skirting around the edges so she wouldn't stand out. Her mind wandered a little, thinking of how her mother should be here with her. She hardly noticed when she walked right into another bear.

Keeka had a fish in her jaws. She had just caught it, it was her first meal in what felt like ages. All of a sudden, something ran into her. She let out a squeak of surprise. Though grizzlies were know as the biggest bears, she was...really tiny. She looked, and saw a little black bear. "Um, hi. My name is Keeka."she said, trying to be polite. Her brown fur shimmered in the sunlight.

"Sorry! My name's Resa," Resa apologized. Keeka was holding a plump fish in her jaws, and Resa could smell the scent of hunger on her fur. Her mouth watered at the smell of food, the last place she had eaten was a long way away from here. All of the other bears had already taken the food from the path up to the Great Bear Lake. "Nice to meet you," Resa continued, unsure of what to do next. She wished that now, more than ever, her mother was with her. She would know what to do. (Do you want to travel together?)

(Yeah!) Keeka smiled, and dropped her fish, slicing it with her sharp, huge claws. She gave the bigger piece, the head, to Resa. "Here, take some."she said, before the other female refused. She took a bite of the tail, which was yummy and crunchy. Her soft brown eyes shimmered, feeling fuller was great.

Resa felt warm inside as Keeka handed part of the fish to her. "For me? Thanks!" she said, smiling at Keeka. She had seemed like a very nice bear, and now she had shared her food with Resa. Resa couldn't have asked for a better friend. She bent down, and took a large bite of the fish. It's juiciness flooded her mouth.
